TL;DR
Product Manager, Digital for Research and Tech Dev (AI) (Benchling/life sciences): Building scalable internal applications and digital platforms for Moderna Research and Technical Development with an accent on scientific workflows, data models, and system integration. Focus on translating requirements into product backlogs and user stories, designing interoperable data solutions, and driving testing, rollout, adoption, and continuous improvement.

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts / Norwood, Massachusetts, United States. Onsite role with access to export-controlled technology and data; only U.S. persons are eligible.

Salary: $121,600–$194,500 per year, plus potential discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

  • Partner with Research and Technical Development scientists and software developers to understand workflows and deliver scalable internal applications.
  • Lead requirements gathering and design workshops, translating scientific workflows into user stories, data models, and release documentation.
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog while balancing scientific needs, business value, platform standards, and technical constraints.
  • Define integration strategies and data processes across internal ordering, request, RNA/DNA production, and other systems.
  • Guide configuration validation, test planning, UAT, rollout, user training, and early adoption support.
  • Track product success metrics such as adoption and data quality, driving continuous improvement and platform reuse.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, informatics, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of experience in pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, informatics, or a product-adjacent role.
  • Hands-on experience using or administering Benchling and integrating it with secondary applications.
  • Ability to gather, refine, and translate user requirements into structured system designs and fit-for-purpose data models.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, including leading workshops with scientific and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience producing requirements, design, data model, and platform support documentation.

Nice to have

  • Ph.D. in life sciences, informatics, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with R&D lab workflows, including assay development, process development, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Experience with business process mapping, cross-functional design workshops, user documentation, training, and external implementation partners.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams in a matrixed environment.
