Electrical Engineering Systems Lead (Defense)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan, with reporting to a specific location at least 3 times per week; work at the Milford Proving Grounds may be required. Travel is required up to 25%.

What you will do

• Lead electrical architecture definition for new and derivative defense vehicle platforms.
• Translate government, customer, mission, and vehicle requirements into electrical system requirements, architecture decisions, and interface definitions.
• Define high- and low-voltage power distribution, network architectures, system boundaries, grounding, protection, and load-management concepts.
• Integrate batteries, power conversion, propulsion interfaces, high-voltage cables, contactors, ECUs, sensors, actuators, controllers, displays, and mission equipment.
• Develop and review schematics, wiring concepts, interface control documents, netlists, block diagrams, and architecture specifications.
• Resolve cross-functional electrical, power-quality, EMI/EMC, network, thermal, packaging, cybersecurity, functional-safety, and export-control issues while supporting proposals and production execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical systems, vehicle electrical engineering, controls, harnesses, power distribution, or embedded systems.
• Experience with high-voltage or electrified vehicle systems, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interface documents, and system block diagrams.
• Working knowledge of vehicle communications and networked systems, including CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, or Ethernet.
• Strong requirements analysis, interface management, technical decision-making, problem-solving, technical writing, presentation, and collaboration skills.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee. The role is subject to export-control restrictions and does not provide immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Defense or tactical vehicle, mission equipment, military standards, EMI/EMC, Capital Tools, harness packaging, or vehicle launch experience.
• Experience with Global A, Global B/VIP, SDV architectures, INCA, Vspy, Simulink, Serial Data MAC, or DFSS Black Belt certification.
