Sr. Manager, Field Engineering - Financial Services (Banking and Payments)

Location: Remote candidates in the United States, with preference for the Northeast or Midwest near a Databricks office hub; candidates in Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, D.C. are encouraged

Salary: $192,100–$264,175 USD annually, plus potential performance bonus, equity, and benefits

What you will do

• Lead, hire, train, coach, and grow a team of Solutions Architects serving the Financial Services segment.
• Partner with Sales and other Field Engineering teams to increase revenue and deliver customer value.
• Guide technical qualification, architecture discussions, technical validations, and product demonstrations.
• Maintain a strong hiring pipeline and develop high-performing technical pre-sales talent.
• Keep the team current on the Databricks technology stack and ensure continuous technical learning.
• Build relationships with internal teams, systems integrators, and independent software vendors to accelerate customer success.

Requirements

• Proven experience building and leading technical pre-sales teams, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and mentoring.
• 10+ years of experience in data-related technical products, such as data warehousing, big data, machine learning, or generative AI.
• Experience advising technical executives on strategic data infrastructure decisions.
• Strong understanding of complex architectures, technical validations, product demonstrations, and scalable solutions.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
• Technical credibility with engineering talent and leadership, plus experience with consumption-driven business models.
