Sr. Manager Database Platform (SQL Server)

Location: Chicago, IL; hybrid work model

Salary: $136,885.10–$200,000.00 annually, plus bonus and/or commission eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead a team of database engineers, including direct reports and offshore resources.
• Act as a senior technical resource, prioritize work, resolve complex problems, and contribute to strategy discussions.
• Oversee database operations, upgrades, patch management, monitoring, production support, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with Operations, Product Development, Data Architecture, SRE, and DevOps teams.
• Automate deployment and monitoring across the data ecosystem and use AI to automate daily tasks.
• Recommend improvements that reduce hosting complexity and increase operational agility and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience and technical certifications.
• 12+ years of information systems experience in large enterprise environments supporting mission-critical systems.
• 5+ years in a technical team lead role managing five or more resources.
• 8+ years of Microsoft SQL Server experience and experience managing large OLTP databases at scale.
• 5+ years with cloud database technologies such as AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, Azure PaaS, or Hyperscale, plus 5+ years with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
• Experience with complex system integration, database upgrades, patch management, SOC controls, monitoring, disaster recovery, and troubleshooting.
