Software Engineering Manager (Machine Learning)

Location: USA. Flexibility to work from home or in the office.

Salary: $195,500–$247,000 per year, plus equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Own the machine learning lifecycle for the Personalization Engine, including reliability, scalability, model effectiveness, deployment, inference, and monitoring.
• Build production-grade ML systems, data pipelines, feature stores, feedback loops, and MLOps infrastructure.
• Develop and evaluate personalization approaches such as ensemble models, reinforcement learning, multi-armed bandits, recommendation systems, and generative AI features.
• Lead hands-on engineering work, conduct code and design reviews, and guide the technical roadmap from ideation through production.
• Manage, mentor, and coach two machine learning engineers while raising engineering standards across the squad.
• Partner with Product, Design, and software engineering to translate patient journey challenges into impactful ML solutions.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in machine learning engineering.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying production personalization systems or recommendation engines at scale for consumer-facing products.
• Strong programming skills across the ML lifecycle; expertise in Python and SQL is highly preferred.
• 1+ year of experience managing ML engineers or scientists, or comparable informal or dotted-line technical leadership experience.
• Experience collaborating with product leaders and software engineers and translating business problems into supervised, unsupervised, or reinforcement learning tasks.
• Experience building and integrating generative AI features into personalization systems or developing components for safe, high-performance GenAI features.

• Technical leadership experience spanning product engineering beyond AI and ML components.
• Experience in fintech, e-commerce, social media, healthcare, or other consumer-facing products.
