Designer (Electric Distribution)

Location: Amarillo, Texas, United States; onsite role

Salary: $37–$48 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.

What you will do

• Design overhead electric distribution projects and process construction work requests using utility standards, guidelines, and procedures.
• Update GIS software based on field conditions and verify maps, record drawings, and survey data.
• Prepare computer-assisted designs, construction drawings, distribution circuit designs, pole boring documentation, cost estimates, and project reports.
• Track design activities in the project management system and maintain proficiency through regular training.
• Attend client engineering meetings, define project scope, and prepare meeting notes for pre-construction, pre-engineering, and pre-design stages.
• Support storm restoration activities, including patrolling, extendo-stick work, and production leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering or technology and 3–5 years of power distribution design or engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Design Manager, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Xcel Energy Distribution.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and credit checks.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, client interaction ability, flexibility, and a questioning attitude.
