Customer Design Technician Associate-Senior

Location: Canton, Ohio, United States; field work and physical duties may vary by territory.

Salary: $30.50–$32.50 for Associate, $35.00–$38.00 for Technician, $41.50–$45.50 for Senior Technician. Compensation range: $31.72–$45.25 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform technical work related to planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of utility equipment and facilities.
• Apply technical knowledge to resolve assigned utility and engineering problems.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret information needed for work activities and technical decisions.
• Prepare technical reports and papers and maintain accurate work records.
• Patrol distribution power lines to assess damage where required and support surveying and field work.
• Work with internal and external customers and seek guidance from higher-level employees as needed.

Requirements

• Associate: high school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related utility industry experience, or an associate degree in electrical, electronic, civil, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
• Technician: associate degree plus 2 years of related utility industry experience, or high school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of related experience.
• Senior Technician: associate degree plus 4 years of related utility industry experience, or high school diploma or GED plus 6 years of related experience, including technically focused engineering work activities and projects.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Basic computer literacy and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally are required.
• Some territories require walking distribution rights-of-way in adverse conditions, carrying equipment weighing up to 11 pounds, and clearing brush with hand tools.
