District Planning Advisor (Electrical Utility)

Location: Blythe, California, US; hybrid work with required residence in California. The primary work location is the Blythe Service Center, with possible extended assignments at alternate locations and up to 20% travel throughout the SCE service territory.

Salary: $126,000–$189,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and design plans, resource requirements, cost estimates, and construction options for transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution facilities.
• Coordinate projects with Operations, Engineering, Environmental, construction teams, internal staff, contractors, government agencies, and private infrastructure owners.
• Lead environmental planning, permitting, system performance studies, and compliance activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical direction, mentorship, training, workload oversight, design reviews, and quality control for planning teams and contractors.
• Assess field and system risks, develop mitigation projects, manage budgets and schedules, and monitor operating and compliance deadlines.
• Conduct field inspections and maintain accurate circuit maps and geospatial records for overhead and underground assets.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in electrical utility distribution, transmission, telecommunication design or construction, or an engineering discipline.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
• Experience with complex technical projects, design reviews, stakeholder coordination, and project management.
• Proficiency with advanced design and planning tools such as AUD, SPIDA, AutoCAD, or Design Manager.
• Must work and reside in California unless otherwise noted.

• Experience managing sensitive projects under tight timelines and handling difficult stakeholder issues independently.
• Experience coordinating Operations, Engineering, Environmental, and other cross-functional groups.
• Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in technical, construction, or utility environments.
