Distribution Designer (Electric Utility)

What you will do

• Design overhead electric distribution projects using field survey data, circuit drawings, utility standards, and project estimates.
• Update GIS records to reflect current field conditions and verify maps and record drawings.
• Prepare computer-assisted designs, construction drawings, distribution circuit designs, pole boring documentation, cost estimates, and project reports.
• Track design activities in the project management system and submit work for review by QA, supervisors, and other designers.
• Meet with client engineers to define project scope and document pre-construction, pre-engineering, and pre-design discussions.
• Support storm restoration activities, including patrolling, extendo stick work, and production lead duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering or technology and 3–5 years of power distribution design or engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Design Manager, Microsoft Office Suite, and distribution engineering concepts.
• Experience with Xcel Energy Distribution.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and credit checks.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, client interaction skills, flexibility, and a questioning attitude.
• Ability to work in Denver, TX, including field and out-of-office safety responsibilities.
