Interplan Consultant, Senior (Healthcare Insurance)

Location: Remote telecommuter role; hiring is available in specified U.S. states, including Washington. The role is associated with Mountlake Terrace, Washington.

Salary: $84,200–$143,100 annually in higher-cost labor markets including Western Washington; national range: $80,200–$125,600 annually.

What you will do

• Develop renewal and growth strategies for Participating Plan business, including RFI and RFP responses.
• Negotiate Participating Plan and Control Plan contracts, renewals, service levels, funding arrangements, reimbursement methodologies, and related terms.
• Coordinate with underwriting, operations, sales, account management, network management, Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans, brokers, consultants, and employer groups.
• Oversee Inter-Plan operations, including plan profile management, reimbursement accuracy, service delivery, and cross-functional activities.
• Coordinate Medicare Advantage and other Blue Cross Blue Shield Association compliance reporting, surveys, committees, workgroups, and governance forums.
• Monitor regulatory and industry developments and communicate business impacts to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least eight years of experience in healthcare, health insurance, account management, provider contracting, operations, Inter-Plan services, or related functions.
• Experience supporting large employer groups, complex healthcare arrangements, or multi-state health plan operations.
• Must obtain and maintain a Washington State insurance agent license and additional state licenses as required.
• Strong negotiation, influencing, relationship-management, analytical, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in a Blue Cross Blue Shield environment.
• Experience managing Participating Plan or Inter-Plan business relationships.
• Knowledge of provider networks, benefit structures, funding arrangements, stop-loss products, utilization trends, and healthcare operations.
