BIM Modeler (Instrumentation & Controls)

Location: USA; ideally Houston, Long Beach, or San Francisco offices. Full-time onsite work is expected except for bi-weekly WFH Fridays, with some travel to active project sites.

What you will do

• Create instrumentation and controls models in Revit and AutoCAD Plant 3D, including sensor layouts, I/O cabinets, control panels, networking equipment, cable trays, conduits, and field devices.
• Coordinate controls routing and equipment placement with electrical, mechanical, structural, IT, commissioning, and site teams.
• Convert AutoCAD drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and partner documentation into native Revit geometry, and produce required CAD deliverables.
• Maintain federated models according to the BIM Execution Plan, including worksets, links, shared coordinates, discipline standards, and controlled revisions.
• Run Navisworks clash detection, resolve interference, produce controls documentation and quantity takeoffs, and support procurement and estimating.
• Build Revit families, templates, standards, and model content while supporting commissioning, as-built updates, and mentoring junior drafters.

Requirements

• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• 5+ years of Revit MEP modeling experience on industrial, energy, data center, or mission-critical projects.
• Expert Autodesk Revit skills, including MEP family creation, parametric content, worksharing, and shared coordinates.
• Strong AutoCAD Plant 3D experience and the ability to transfer work accurately between CAD and Revit.
• Experience with controls layouts, instrumentation, cable tray and conduit routing, sensor placement, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and sequences of operation.
• Navisworks clash detection experience, familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and Bluebeam Revu, and knowledge of NEC, IEC, and NFPA standards.

Nice to have

• Data center, mission-critical facilities, building management systems, HVAC controls, or power monitoring experience.
• Controls engineering, electrical controls, instrumentation, steel detailing, or fabrication-level documentation experience.
• Dynamo or Revit API scripting, ReCap or point-cloud workflows, commissioning, FAT/SAT, or AHJ process experience.
