Technical Lead, Application Development (Workday)

Location: Hybrid role based in New York City, NY or Englewood Cliffs, NJ, with 3 days onsite

Salary: USD 150,000–180,000 yearly

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, deployment, and ongoing support of Workday-centered Core HR and Payroll solutions.
• Define platform standards, architecture patterns, roadmaps, and scalable custom and SaaS solutions.
• Deliver initiatives end to end, including technical design, build, testing, release planning, deployment, and post-go-live support.
• Build and lead internal engineering teams, architects, and onshore and offshore delivery partners.
• Oversee integrations, data flows, platform performance, operational health, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and status reporting to HR, Payroll, Product, Data, Security, Legal, and Enterprise Technology stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years leading medium to large engineering delivery teams.
• 4+ years of Workday development experience, including at least one complete Workday HCM implementation in a senior lead developer capacity.
• Strong hands-on experience with Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder, Core Connectors, Workday APIs, Workday Extend or the Workday Build Ecosystem.
• Experience building Workday Prism data ingestion pipelines, managing Workday integrations and job scheduling, and configuring portal self-service experiences.
• Experience delivering HR and Payroll solutions, enterprise applications, integrations, CI/CD, DevOps, and Agile delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, together with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, entertainment, or consumer-facing digital businesses.
• Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, API management platforms such as MuleSoft, Apigee, or Kong, and API-first integration.
• Familiarity with UI/UX, WCAG accessibility standards, cloud platforms, React, Java, and Workday Canvas Kit.
• Interest in modernizing custom and SaaS platforms and improving developer productivity.
