TL;DR
Quality Control Inspector I/II (Aerospace): Performing visual, dimensional, functional, electrical, optical, and workmanship inspections of unmanned aircraft hardware with an accent on engineering drawing interpretation, traceability, and product conformity. Focus on inspecting precision and high-reliability components, applying GD&T and IPC workmanship standards, documenting nonconformances, and coordinating quality decisions with Manufacturing and Engineering.

Location: Paso Robles, California, United States; onsite production inspection role

Salary: $22.59–$33.20 USD per hour, depending on level

What you will do

  • Perform visual, dimensional, functional, electrical, optical, and workmanship inspections of production hardware.
  • Inspect receiving, in-process, and final products within qualified avionics, electronics, mechanical, and structures environments.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, travelers, inspection plans, and applicable workmanship standards.
  • Document inspection results, product identification, configuration, and traceability records.
  • Identify, contain, and escalate suspected nonconformances; Level II inspectors may accept or reject product within authorized areas.
  • Work with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations to communicate inspection status, risks, and production impacts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical, vocational, or hands-on manufacturing training is preferred.
  • Level I: 0–2 years of manufacturing, inspection, electronics, machining, assembly, or related technical experience.
  • Level II: 1–4 years of manufacturing, aerospace, high-reliability, or related inspection experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and accurately use inspection equipment and document results.
  • Level II requires basic GD&T interpretation according to ASME Y14.5 and independent inspection judgment.
  • Employment requires verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States; the employer participates in E-Verify.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, AS9102 First Article Inspection, or other inspection standards.
  • ASQ CQI or CQT certification, ISO 9001 or AS9100 auditor training, GD&T training, NDT training, or related technical qualifications.
