Lathe Machinist - 2nd/3rd Shift (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Buffalo, New York, United States

Salary: $28.00–$37.00 per hour, plus a 10% shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift employees

What you will do

• Machine complex, high-precision components for flight-critical military aircraft programs, including F-35, MQ-25, and FLRAA.
• Work from blueprints, operation sheets, and verbal instructions to grind parts with intricate recesses, grooves, tapers, contours, and close tolerances.
• Perform setups, chuck and align irregularly shaped parts, and select wheels, speeds, feeds, and operating sequences.
• Dress grinding wheels for forms, tapers, steps, straight profiles, and unusual shapes.
• Inspect completed work using air gauges, Diatech equipment, V-blocks, profilometers, angle plates, and electronic gauging equipment.
• Participate in cell-level work planning and problem solving.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a precision machinist, preferably a grind machinist.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, dial bore gauges, and other measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and written work instructions.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances, typically .001 +/- .0005, and apply GD&T principles.
• High school diploma or GED preferred, or demonstrated ability to understand and apply verbal, written, and computer instructions in English.
• Participation in the company FAA Drug & Alcohol Program is required under FAA Safety Sensitive Work regulations.
