Class B Machinist

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico, US

Salary: $30–$35 per hour

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment with limited supervision.
• Manufacture parts from engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
• Select and install tooling, verify offsets and setup information, and make routine machine adjustments.
• Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other precision tools.
• Monitor machining operations and report tooling, dimensional, quality, or machine-performance concerns.
• Complete manufacturing and inspection documentation while following safety and quality procedures.

Requirements

• Previous machinist or CNC machinist experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints and understand dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Ability to perform routine setups and adjustments with limited supervision.
• Reliable attendance, attention to detail, and effective teamwork.

Nice to have

• Experience with CNC lathes, CNC mills, multi-axis equipment, and precision machining.
• Experience in a controlled manufacturing environment with documentation, traceability, inspection, and customer-specific quality requirements.
• Interest in learning advanced setups, machining techniques, programming, and troubleshooting.
