Associate Corporate Counsel (Technology)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; hybrid and fully remote work arrangements are available for Canadian-based employees.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, requests for proposals, and other legal documents.
• Provide legal advice and support to product and business teams.
• Review legal requirements and apply them to business scenarios.
• Advise on data privacy, security, and protection regulations, including EU and UK GDPR.
• Balance legal and business risks in processes and decision-making.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws degree from an accredited university.
• Membership in a Canadian provincial or territorial law society.
• At least two years of experience as technology legal counsel in-house or at a law firm.
• Experience negotiating technology agreements such as NDAs, SaaS agreements, EULAs, MSAs, SOWs, and DPAs.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with internal clients.
• Sound judgment, independence, and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.
