Automotive Lead Technician

Location: 020273 Pontiac Waterford, United States; onsite retail service location

Salary: $25.31–$43.51 per hour, with flat-rate performance-based compensation

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air-conditioning, computer, and drivetrain systems.
• Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to customers and other non-mechanical individuals.
• Lead, assist, and mentor technicians and mechanics during technical work.
• Stay current with automotive technology through paid formal training.
• Obtain or maintain ASE certifications in at least five A1–A8 areas during the first two years.

Requirements

• Valid automobile driver's license and ability to drive customer and company vehicles.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing brakes, steering, suspension, alignments, general maintenance, and tires.
• Applicable federal, state, and local certifications or licenses.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, plus reading, writing, and math skills.
• Employment requires completion of Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; temporary work authorization or sponsorship needs may disqualify applicants.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, engine repair and performance, automatic or manual transmissions, and automotive heating and air conditioning.
• Five years of automotive repair experience, relevant third-party certifications or assessments, or completion of a vocational-technical program.
• ASE certification in at least three A1–A8 areas, preferably brakes and steering and suspension.
