Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Austin, TX, United States; the selected candidate must work on site.

Salary: $165,000–$200,000 per year, plus bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Lead software engineering teams delivering large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Drive the evolution of client verification and fraud prevention platforms.
• Design scalable, resilient, and secure architectures using Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven patterns.
• Guide AI-native development practices, including responsible use of AI tools and agentic workflows across the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with product, business, architecture, security, and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into delivery plans.
• Establish engineering standards through design and code reviews, automation, incident response, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including technical leadership of complex enterprise initiatives.
• Hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, Apache Kafka, distributed systems, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, software delivery automation, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• Experience with architecture decisions, API lifecycle management, object-oriented design, performance optimization, security, scalability, and resiliency.
• Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, stakeholder management, troubleshooting, and incident response skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in financial services, fraud prevention, identity verification, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience with LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, AI evaluation frameworks, benchmarking, and model validation.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications with automation and AI-driven approaches.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, or public cloud technologies.
