Principal Engineer (Fintech)

What you will do

• Design, build, and support highly available scalable systems providing golden sources of data for critical business functions.
• Develop agentic workflows and LLM orchestration to provide cost-efficient and high-performing solutions.
• Lead the improvement of a modern tech stack using AWS, K8s, and microservices, including the delivery of MCP servers.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to analyze data problems and design architectural solutions.
• Build reusable components and AI solutions to contribute to firmwide libraries.
• Mentor software engineers on modern frameworks, cloud architecture, and AI technologies.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in New York, NY
• At least 7 years of experience in financial services or hedge funds.
• At least 7 years of OO development experience, preferably in Java.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting listed and OTC instruments typical in a multi-strategy fund.
• Practical experience with generative AI, LLM orchestration, and building MCP servers.
• Expertise in relational and in-memory databases (Postgres/SingleStore) and messaging systems (Kafka).

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes (K8s).
• Knowledge of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD, and build automation.
• UI development experience using React.
• Experience with Reference and Master Data Management in financial services.
• Interest in financial markets, economics, or mathematics.
