Senior Systems Engineer (Virtualization)

Location: On-site in Huntsville, Alabama, United States

Company

Provides IT systems support and engineering services for federal law enforcement operations.

What you will do

• Plan, direct, and conduct regular, special, and integrated system test programs for virtualization equipment.
• Prepare reports and presentations with actionable information for site operations.
• Prototype solutions to IT challenges and optimize existing systems using new technologies.
• Coordinate with field engineers and support the operational unit with assigned systems engineering duties.
• Plan and deliver on-the-job training as required.

Requirements

• Four-year college degree in computer engineering, or ten years of experience designing and implementing production IT systems in lieu of education.
• At least five years of experience designing and implementing IT systems in a production environment.
• Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access and a CI polygraph.
• Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama.
• Experience with systems engineering, virtualization, networking, storage, and infrastructure implementation.

Nice to have

• Experience developing engineering tools, parsing structured database data, and generating requirements documentation.
• Experience leading system or server development projects involving multiple developers.
• PowerShell scripting for automating installation, configuration, and management of IT systems and services.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, OpenStack, Azure Stack, containers, SQL Server, and Microsoft Windows Server administration tools.
• Knowledge of failover clustering, Storage Spaces Direct, System Center, mass storage arrays, Dell OpenManage, WSUS, and Group Policy Management.
