Field Service Engineer (CNC Automation)

Location: Remote, USA; 100% regional/domestic travel to customer facilities

Salary: $69,441–$80,472 per year

What you will do

• Lead on-site installation, system integration, machine alignment, leveling, I/O verification, CNC configuration, gas calibration, and test cutting.
• Diagnose electromechanical, electronic, pneumatic, drive, software, and automation issues on CNC cutting systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, component rebuilds, motion calibration, consumable optimization, and emergency repairs.
• Support CNC controllers, PLC logic, industrial fieldbuses, safety interlocks, and integrated digital cutting automation.
• Train customer technicians, CNC programmers, and operators on safety, operation, torch setup, and preventive care.
• Prepare field service reports, recommend spare parts, and collaborate with Aftermarket and R&D engineering teams on reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
• 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial field service, machine tool repair, robotics, or automated manufacturing systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, and mechanical assembly blueprints.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices, OSHA compliance, Lockout/Tagout, NFPA 70E, and arc-flash awareness.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in industrial plants, climb ladders, maneuver around gantry machinery, and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license, clean driving record, and eligibility to obtain a U.S. passport required.

Nice to have

• Experience with plasma, oxy-fuel, fiber laser, or waterjet cutting and CNC motion platforms.
• Familiarity with CNC nesting software, CAD/CAM formats, and remote diagnostic tools.
• Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency.
