Weekend Meteorologist/Multimedia Journalist

What you will do

• Report general news stories during the week and anchor primarily weekend weathercasts.
• Produce, shoot, write, voice, edit, and publish stories for broadcast, web, streaming, and social platforms.
• Track severe storms, winter weather systems, and daily hazards, providing clear and calm coverage during severe weather events.
• Contact sources, conduct research, attend news events, arrange interviews, and develop original story ideas.
• Ad-lib breaking news, interact with anchors, and collaborate with photographers, producers, and the assignment desk on live shots.
• Produce or host streaming programs and create reels and other digital content.

Requirements

• Excellent writing, grammar, spelling, communication, and ad-libbing skills.
• Strong, credible, personable, and engaging on-air presentation.
• Strong video editing, camera, and news photography skills.
• Knowledge of The Weather Company Max or a similar weather forecasting system, and ENPS or another newsroom computer system.
• Ability to carry 25–30 pounds of equipment and work flexibly, including additional hours, different shifts, and holidays as required by news coverage.
• B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in meteorology or a related field.
