Anchor & Multimedia Journalist

Location: Chicago, IL; in-person field and newsroom work required

Base pay: $82,000–$87,500 per year

What you will do

• Anchor the Sunday 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts and other assigned newscasts as needed.
• Research, develop, write, shoot, produce, and edit news stories for recorded and live newscasts.
• Gather information, conduct interviews, establish live shots, and report from the field under varying weather conditions.
• Generate story ideas, enterprise special features and sweeps series, and coordinate coverage of breaking news and major stories.
• Build relationships with community leaders, government officials, local authorities, and viewers.
• Publish video, photo, and written content across websites, Facebook, social media, and streaming platforms.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of newsroom experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in multimedia, journalism, television broadcasting, or a related field preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal Spanish and English required.
• Previous anchoring experience preferred; strong news judgment and high ethical and journalistic standards required.
• Experience with newsroom computer systems, iNews, video editing, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Creative Cloud, and file-sharing systems.
• Advanced field-camera, production, and editing skills; valid driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and carry up to 30 pounds.
