Associate Counsel

Location: NJ - Morristown, United States. Regular attendance at trials, depositions, site visits, and other case-related events is required, with travel as needed.

Salary: $85,600.00–$141,200.00 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Handle a caseload of lower-complexity litigation matters under the mentorship and supervision of experienced counsel.
• Conduct legal research and develop effective litigation, negotiation, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery materials, and other case documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, site visits, and other appointments.
• Provide case analysis and handling-strategy recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
• Build client and business-partner relationships while using case-management systems, automation, and other available technology.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Ability to regularly attend case-related events and transport to those events; a valid driver's license is required depending on location.
• 1–3 years of litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Strong persuasive legal writing, oral advocacy, legal research, negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, customers, and business partners and adapt to evolving needs.
