Meteorologist (Weekend) & Multimedia Journalist

Location: Mobile, Alabama, with coverage of WKRG-TV Mobile, AL / Pensacola, FL

What you will do

• Produce and present accurate weather forecasts across all platforms during regularly scheduled weekend shifts.
• Cover severe weather, breaking news, and urgent newsroom situations from the studio and field.
• Fill in for colleagues on other weather shifts and generate news stories when not assigned to weather duties.
• Shoot, write, edit, and deliver accurate weather and news stories from the field.
• Collaborate with weather team members and news managers to execute comprehensive coverage.
• Engage viewers through social media, community events, and station-sponsored activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.
• Strong understanding of meteorology and a proven forecasting track record.
• Confident on-camera presentation and ad-libbing skills, with excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to use the hardware, software, and systems required to produce weather and news content.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, work multiple shifts, and respond quickly to coaching and feedback.
• Fluent English and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in weather forecasting and content creation.
