HBS Construction Management - Site Safety Specialist (Construction)

Location: Virtual, with the first site in San Antonio, Texas, USA; traveling between active construction jobsites is required and occasional overnight travel may be necessary.

What you will do

• Lead the implementation and enforcement of site-specific safety plans and company safety programs.
• Conduct jobsite audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA and federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Serve as the primary safety contact for assigned projects and partner with project managers, superintendents, engineering, design, and field teams.
• Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and preventive-action implementation.
• Deliver safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and guidance to field personnel and junior safety staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of safety experience, preferably in construction.
• OSHA 30-hour certification and strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Experience independently managing safety on active jobsites, conducting audits and investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
• Strong communication, influencing, risk-analysis, and practical problem-solving skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification is required. A valid driver’s license is also required.

Nice to have

• CHST, CSP, or another safety certification.
• Experience supporting large or complex construction projects.
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior safety staff.
