Senior Software Engineer (Python)

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable, highly available backend services and APIs primarily with Python.
• Implement data contracts, integration layers, and event-driven interfaces across distributed services and external systems.
• Build automated unit, integration, and regression test suites; diagnose complex defects and improve system resilience.
• Profile resource usage, database queries, and network performance to improve throughput, latency, and scalability.
• Containerize services with Docker, deploy Kubernetes workloads with Helm, and maintain CI/CD pipelines with code analysis, testing, and vulnerability scanning.
• Collaborate with agile teams, product owners, and technical stakeholders to deliver production-ready increments.

Requirements

• Active or current Top-Secret clearance required.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience delivering production backend systems.
• Production-level Python and Bash experience, including backend frameworks, data structures, asynchronous programming, and system automation.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field.
• Ability to work independently, debug unfamiliar codebases, and write clean, self-documenting code.

Nice to have

• Top-Secret clearance with SCI access and polygraph.
• Privileged User eligibility, Security+ certification, or an accepted equivalent.
• Experience with distributed messaging, event-driven systems, microservices, REST, gRPC, monitoring, observability, or distributed tracing.
• Knowledge of space-to-ground architectures, Command and Control systems, and Mission Management systems.
