What you will do

• Repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel trucks and fleet equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, engines, suspension, drivetrain, steering, HVAC, and braking systems.
• Maintain hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and control systems on heavy-duty vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance, basic tire work, line maintenance welding, and fabrication.
• Diagnose malfunctions using electronic diagnostic tools and perform inspections with limited supervision.
• Provide safe road service when required to return company equipment to operation.
• Complete company training programs and support drivers operating their assigned routes.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a technician position working with gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment, or graduation from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next three months.
• Experience or knowledge maintaining and repairing Class 1–5 light/medium-duty and Class 7–8 heavy-duty trucks, aircraft, or ships.
• Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and perform basic inspections involving suspension and steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, drivetrains, and diesel emissions.
• Basic understanding of work-order labor-time standards.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• ASE T1–T8 certifications and a Commercial Driver’s License are advantageous but not required.
