What you will do
- Lead a unit of five to seven claims professionals and establish goals, performance standards, feedback, and recognition practices.
- Oversee the strategic management of workers’ compensation indemnity claims and ensure compliance with statutes, regulations, case law, and company standards.
- Manage workflow, assign and direct work, monitor individual claims, and support prompt closures, appropriate reserves, timely settlements, and cost containment.
- Ensure high-quality service for injured workers and insureds, including timely medical management decisions and client satisfaction.
- Support employee development, identify training needs, and reinforce claims-handling techniques and continuing education requirements.
- Evaluate defense counsel, medical providers, nurse case managers, translators, and other vendors, and communicate recommendations to management.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent certificate; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- At least five years of claims adjusting experience with a workers’ compensation carrier.
- California Self-Insurance Administrator’s (SIP) Certification required upon hire.
- Completion of mandated training and continuing education requirements for adjusting workers’ compensation claims in California.
- Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
