Safety Loss Control Consultant

Location: Boston, MA, USA. National position requiring 30–50% travel outside the region.

Salary: $150,000–$175,000 annual

What you will do

• Conduct safety and property loss control assessments at manufacturing, healthcare, education, real estate, retail, and process-industry facilities.
• Recommend, implement, and improve safety and loss control programs based on loss history, regulations, organizational needs, and industry best practices.
• Review major losses and loss trends with claims and analytics teams, then develop customer service plans to mitigate future losses.
• Coordinate customer visits, insurer recommendations, risk improvement plans, COPE reports, and property inspection preparation.
• Write technical blogs, white papers, and summaries; develop and deliver webinars, training courses, and seminars.
• Review simple project plans and provide property protection guidance based on NFPA and FM Global standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and approximately 7 years of insurance industry experience desired.
• Experience with all-risk property loss control, property field surveys, industrial occupancies, and loss control consultations.
• Proficiency in automatic sprinkler system hydraulic calculations and fire protection water supply analysis.
• Knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, OSHA, DOT, and ANSI standards, workers’ compensation programs, and construction or builder’s risk.
• Strong analytical, communication, writing, organizational, computer, decision-making, and customer service skills.
• Ability to travel 30–50% outside the region is required.

Nice to have

• Highly Protected Risk experience or an FM Global engineering background.
• Professional Engineer, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, CSP, ARM, or other safety and insurance-related designation.
