VoIP Engineer (Cisco)

Location: Hybrid, Cambridge, Massachusetts; onsite as needed with advance notice. Employees working away from Harvard locations must work in a Harvard-registered state.

What you will do

• Lead the technical migration from Cisco Dedicated Instance to Cisco Multi-Tenant.
• Assess existing voice architecture, identify compatibility gaps, and recommend modernization opportunities.
• Design, configure, test, and validate the MT environment, including PSTN, SIP trunks, contact center, emergency services, third-party integrations, and end-user devices.
• Create migration standards, runbooks, rollback plans, validation checklists, operational procedures, and support documentation.
• Troubleshoot complex migration issues, lead root cause analysis, and establish monitoring, alerting, and support processes.
• Train and mentor engineering and operations staff so they can independently administer and support the MT platform.

Requirements

• At least two years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of configuring and maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure systems.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, provide service-minded support, and act as a trusted advisor.
• Expert-level knowledge of Cisco Dedicated Instance and Cisco Multi-Tenant architectures is required for the migration leadership responsibilities.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Ability to work occasional hours outside normal business hours and respond during off-hours when required.
