Environmental Engineering Director

Location: Empire State Building, New York, New York; travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.

Salary: $167,632.13–$191,579.57 annually

What you will do

• Lead environmental engineering and design projects from initiation through completion, managing schedules, budgets, resources, quality, and scope.
• Serve as technical lead, project manager, or design manager for remediation and environmental infrastructure projects.
• Develop the New York Environmental Engineering practice by assessing team capabilities, mentoring staff, hiring as needed, and coordinating resource utilization.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, remediation plans, and system designs, including permitting and implementation procedures.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, stakeholders, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams on investigations, remediation, approvals, and construction support.
• Lead quality, business development, proposal, client relationship, and thought-leadership initiatives while maintaining 60% utilization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related technical field.
• New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience in environmental regulations, investigation, remediation design and compliance, and environmental construction support.
• Experience managing environmental projects across execution, scheduling, cost, quality, delegation, and client relationships.
• Experience preparing design plans and technical specifications for sub-slab depressurization systems and gas vapor barriers.
• Proficiency with environmental modeling software, GIS, AutoCAD, environmental regulations, remediation technologies, and industry best practices.

Nice to have

• Additional PE licensure in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, or Massachusetts.
• Experience with SVE, air sparging, multi-phase extraction, in-situ chemical oxidation or bioremediation, and SWPPP.
• Experience with MTA environmental management, the NYC School Construction Authority, task order contracts, or medium- to large-scale infrastructure projects.
