DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Fort Meade, Maryland, United States; must work on the customer site in Columbia, Maryland, 5 days a week.

Salary: $103,691–$169,212 USD annually.

What you will do

• Support the development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS.
• Develop and maintain non-cloud edge infrastructure for on-premise and portable equipment.
• Automate deployment processes and manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems while improving service reliability, scalability, availability, and performance.
• Integrate applications into infrastructure in collaboration with development teams.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and team leadership while remaining hands-on.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with CI Polygraph and U.S. citizenship are required.
• Must be able to work at the customer site in Columbia, MD, 5 days per week, and help open or close the workspace during regular business hours as needed.
• At least 5 years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, AWS services including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda, Linux administration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, application and container deployment, Git, Flux, terminal-based environments, and Agile development.
• Ability to program in Python, Bash, or Go, solve complex technical issues, communicate effectively, and mentor or lead engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Additional experience with containers, EKS, Diode, CI/CD, and Terraform.
