Weld Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: On-site in Redondo Beach, California, for the 12-week internship

Compensation: $30.00 per hour; overtime may be required and is paid.

What you will do

• Support the development, testing, and optimization of welding processes and parameters.
• Assist with laser beam welding, friction stir welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and orbital tube welding activities.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, tooling, automation, and materials engineering teams.
• Prepare test hardware and document weld development results.
• Troubleshoot welding and manufacturing issues and identify root causes.
• Work hands-on with welders and engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• Completing or pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication tools and processes, such as power tools, tube bending, machining, or welding.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and work effectively in a small team.
• Familiarity with CAD software and ability to learn new tools.
• Ability and willingness to work on-site in Redondo Beach, California, for the full internship.
• Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain a U.S. export license because of ITAR and EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with welding or other fabrication processes.
• Familiarity with GTAW, GMAW, laser welding, friction stir welding, or electron beam welding.
• Self-motivation, drive, and strong attention to detail.
