Additive Manufacturing Intern (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

What you will do

• Work with a mentor and department employees to apply engineering knowledge and develop technical and professional skills.
• Support additive manufacturing activities for Electron, Neutron, and Space Systems programs.
• Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve real challenges in a fast-paced professional environment.
• Participate in regular one-to-one meetings with mentors and supervisors and provide progress updates.
• Attend technical talks and connect with interns and employees through professional and social events.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree program in engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• Have a GPA of at least 3.0.
• Have at least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.
• Be able to work full-time on-site in Long Beach, California for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027.
• For work in United States offices, meet applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• At least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• Exposure to metal additive manufacturing and 3D printing.
• Strong CAD/CAM modeling skills in Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or other CAD/CAM software.
• Finite Element Analysis experience.
