TL;DR
Mechanical Technician III (Aerospace): Building, integrating, testing, operating, and maintaining Neutron launch vehicle and ground-system mechanical assets with an accent on fluid-system fabrication, launch-pad installation, and mechanical troubleshooting. Focus on assembling large structures, commissioning pneumatic and hydraulic systems, leading technician activities, and supporting demanding field operations.
Location: Wallops Island, Virginia, United States; onsite work at launch and test sites
Salary: $26–$39 USD per hour

What you will do
- Fabricate mechanical subsystems for Neutron test and launch sites, primarily fluid-system components.
- Fit out, assemble, install, and commission launch-pad fluid systems.
- Support or lead daily activities for 3–5 technicians during vehicle integration and launch-pad operations.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform precision cleaning of critical components as needed.
- Develop workflow and best practices while supporting integration, testing, operation, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and integration teams in Auckland, Long Beach, and Stennis Space Center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace, industrial, or a relevant environment.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or fluid components.
- Experience assembling large structures and mechanisms.
- Skill with hand, power, and measurement tools used in mechanical construction.
- For U.S. office work, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations under ITAR.
Nice to have
- Ability to read and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom lifts.
- Understanding of pneumatic, cryogenic, and/or hydraulic fluid systems.
- Basic knowledge of pressure, temperature, and flow measurement instrumentation.
