TL;DR
Engineering Applications Intern (Embedded Systems) (Data Center Solutions): Developing engineering tools, demos, custom firmware, and diagnostic solutions while bringing up and debugging customer evaluation boards with an accent on embedded development, lab analysis, and hardware protocols. Focus on recreating and root-causing customer system problems, measuring performance and power, and supporting product training and technical demonstrations.

Location: Roseville, California, United States. Regular business hours; travel is 0–25%.

Hourly pay: $22.00–$30.00 per hour.

What you will do

  • Set up laboratory equipment, operating systems, drivers, tools, debuggers, and analyzers.
  • Bring up and debug customer evaluation boards.
  • Develop and maintain customer collateral, custom firmware, and diagnostic tools.
  • Recreate, collect, analyze, debug, and identify the root causes of customer-reported problems in the laboratory.
  • Develop and deliver product training for customers and internal teams.
  • Demonstrate product features at industry events and trade shows, including performance and power measurement and analysis.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
  • Basic understanding of computer architecture.
  • Programming experience in C, C++, TCL/Tk, Python, or Java.
  • Good troubleshooting, debugging, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience installing Linux or Windows operating systems and configuring hardware and drivers.
  • Knowledge of NVMe, PCI-Express, SAS, SATA, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, DDR, NAND Flash, UART, SPI, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with board-level debugging and bring-up, hardware design, schematic capture, or board layout.
  • Experience with driver development or embedded firmware development.
