TL;DR
Mission Systems Engineering Intern (Aerospace): Building and integrating mission hardware and software for high-speed aircraft with an accent on avionics, sensors, communications, and system integration. Focus on developing command-and-control and telemetry software, debugging hardware/software interfaces, and testing systems in laboratory, HIL, ground-test, and aircraft environments.

Location: On-site in Atlanta, Georgia, or Los Angeles, California, United States

What you will do

  • Support integration and testing of mission hardware, software, sensors, radios, processors, and avionics systems.
  • Develop and test software for command and control, telemetry, and subsystem interfaces.
  • Perform hardware and software bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting in laboratory, HIL, ground-test, and aircraft environments.
  • Support system interfaces, networking, communication protocols, and integration requirements.
  • Collaborate with software, avionics, autonomy, communications, and flight-test teams.
  • Document test results, technical findings, and system configurations.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with both software development and hardware integration through internships, coursework, research, projects, or competition teams.
  • Programming experience in C++, Python, or a similar language.
  • Experience with embedded systems, electronics, avionics, sensors, networking, or other hardware-connected systems.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above. U.S. export-control eligibility is required: U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with TCP/UDP, Ethernet, CAN, RS-422, or ARINC communication protocols.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, wiring, electronics bring-up, or test equipment.
  • Exposure to HIL/SIL, robotics, UAVs, aerospace, defense, Formula SAE, rocketry, or similar hands-on projects.
