TL;DR
FPGA & Embedded SW Engineer (Aerospace & Defense): Designing and validating FPGA-based systems and embedded software for mission-critical aerospace, defense, and government applications with an accent on RTL design, hardware bring-up, and customer-focused system integration. Focus on developing Verilog/VHDL designs, controlling FPGAs with C++, Python, and Matlab, and solving system-level issues in demanding lab and customer environments.

Location: Hazlet, New Jersey; candidates must be within commuting distance of the hirify.global office

Salary: $120.3K–$174.2K USD annually; stated range applies to Bay Area California and may vary by location, skills, and experience.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and validate FPGA and embedded software solutions for aerospace and defense projects.
  • Translate customer system requirements into FPGA and software architectures.
  • Develop RTL designs, including Verilog, VHDL, and test benches.
  • Develop embedded C++, Python, and Matlab code to control and monitor FPGAs.
  • Lead FPGA bring-up, debugging, and validation in laboratory and customer environments.
  • Collaborate with FPGA, software, and systems engineering teams while preparing technical documentation and validation plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in FPGA design, development, or system integration.
  • Experience with RTL, FPGA-to-board interfaces, hardware bring-up, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, and Ethernet.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related tools.
  • Eligibility for any required U.S. export authorizations and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or government programs.
  • Familiarity with hirify.global FPGA platforms and toolchains.
  • Experience with ruggedized or mission-critical hardware and embedded systems co-design.
  • Customer-facing or applications engineering experience.
