Sr. FPGA Engineer II (VHDL)

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; onsite work and regular commuting to buildings required.

Salary: $143,300–$214,850 USD per year, plus potential stock and cash incentives.

What you will do

• Define FPGA requirements with the hardware design team.
• Design, code, simulate, test, synthesize, and implement FPGA logic in VHDL.
• Support hardware and software teams during product bring-up, testing, and laboratory debugging.
• Develop automated design and test procedures and provide subject-matter expertise to customers and production support.
• Analyze customer specifications, datasheets, and manuals to determine design approaches and feasibility.
• Perform timing analysis and investigate FPGA design issues in the lab.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• 8+ years of experience writing FPGA firmware from scratch in VHDL.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• For U.S. office work, eligibility under ITAR requirements is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or the ability to obtain the required authorizations.
• Ability to commute to buildings and perform prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer work.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xilinx/AMD Versal architecture, radiation-tolerant FPGA and embedded systems, and SEU/SEL mitigation.
• Experience with FPGA- or ASIC-based image processing, RTL IP development, and integration of existing IP.
• Familiarity with C, Python, MATLAB, interrupts, DMA, DDR4, Aurora, high-speed transceivers, AXI interfaces, and PCB design.
