What you will do
- Perform and review neutronic analyses of nuclear fuel assemblies and fuel cycle designs.
- Perform nuclear design safety calculations and generate operational predictions.
- Manage project teams through the reload core design process.
- Develop, qualify, and maintain computer codes used in nuclear design analysis.
- Provide fleet support to reactor engineering teams and manage core monitoring software.
- Prepare technical reports and collaborate with Duke, industry, vendor, and regulatory personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a Master's degree in Engineering in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Nuclear Engineer I: 0–2 years of engineering experience.
- Nuclear Engineer II: 2–4 years of engineering experience and at least 1 year of nuclear experience, unless approved oversight is provided.
- Ability to meet ANSI nuclear personnel qualification requirements and achieve unescorted nuclear site access/security clearance.
- Ability to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Ability to fulfill Emergency Response Organization responsibilities, callout requirements, and on-call Fit for Duty obligations.
Nice to have
- Nuclear Engineering degree, Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, or Professional Engineer license.
- Experience with neutronics codes such as ANC, PRISM, PANACEA, MICROBURN, CASMO, or SIMULATE.
- Experience with PWR fuel cycle design, reactor engineering, core monitoring, License Amendment Requests, or 50.59 Evaluations.
- Experience with Westinghouse NSSS reactors, project management, Linux, FORTRAN, Python, or VBA.
