Staff Engineer, IT Network (Network Security)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; ability to work in both remote and on-site environments, with on-site support, occasional travel to remote facilities and recovery sites, and after-hours on-call coverage.

Salary: $96,300–$149,100 base salary annually.

What you will do

• Manage and maintain multi-vendor network infrastructure using SonicWall, Fortinet, Cisco, Ruckus, and Loadbalancer.org technologies.
• Administer and troubleshoot more than 100 VPN endpoints, customer-managed networks, Layer 2 circuits, routing, switching, and integrated network services.
• Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and monitor network availability and performance.
• Install, rack, cable, configure, and deploy network equipment and VPN appliances, including on-site support for air-gapped networks.
• Maintain, test, and validate disaster recovery infrastructure and support business continuity planning.
• Create technical documentation, evaluate emerging technologies, and collaborate with technical teams, customers, vendors, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise networks and hands-on experience with switching, routing, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
• 3+ years of experience with load-balancing technologies and experience supporting multi-vendor infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in remote and on-site environments, provide after-hours on-call support, and travel occasionally.
• Comfort working in secure, compliance-driven environments is preferred.
