TL;DR
Systems Engineer - Mechanical (Aerospace): Architecting and integrating Neutron’s mechanical and fluid systems across thermofluids, propulsion, GNC, and structures with an accent on requirements verification, interface management, and systems engineering processes. Focus on resolving emergent system-level problems, designing verification approaches, and driving complex multidisciplinary solutions through integration and launch.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand. The role is based in a New Zealand office and requires eligibility to access equipment and data regulated under ITAR.

Company

hirify.global is an end-to-end space company developing rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems, including the Neutron launch vehicle.

What you will do

  • Integrate Neutron’s mechanical and fluid systems across thermofluids, propulsion, GNC, and structures.
  • Work with design teams to verify requirements through analysis and testing, documenting verification artefacts.
  • Own emergent systems by architecting solutions and driving them through design, verification, and implementation.
  • Define and improve interface management and systems engineering processes.
  • Identify gaps in system architecture, requirements, and processes, then develop and implement solutions.
  • Communicate product status and technical decisions internally and externally, often with incomplete information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–5 years of industry experience in a relevant technical field such as structures, fluid systems, mechanisms, or propulsion.
  • Experience delivering complex multidisciplinary systems involving fluid systems, structures, mechanisms, or propulsion.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and guide projects from concept to completion.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design, CAD, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes.
  • For the New Zealand role, nationality and background checks apply because of ITAR-regulated equipment and data access.

Nice to have

  • Experience with fault-tolerance strategies for safety- and mission-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of quality management, configuration management, and aerospace standards such as AIAA S-080 and SMC-S-016.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as Rhapsody, DOORS, or Jama.
  • Familiarity with risk management processes.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on complex rocket development, integration, testing, and launch missions.
  • Collaborate in a small, high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment focused on learning, innovation, and delivery.
  • Work under tight deadlines and solve ambiguous technical challenges.
