Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Center Hardware)

Location: On-site in Santa Clara, CA or Roseville, CA; remote applicants must be willing to relocate to a commutable distance. Some travel to Asia and North America is required.

Base salary: $180,000–$275,000 annually. Total estimated annual compensation, including base salary, bonus, and equity: $300,000–$655,000.

What you will do

• Design and validate mechanical modules and chassis for high-density data center switches.
• Develop Creo 3D models, manufacturing drawings, critical dimensions, and prototype files.
• Design heat sinks and support thermal simulations, airflow testing, and thermal validation.
• Manage BOM structures, product releases, and engineering changes in Agile PLM.
• Collaborate with electrical, ECAD, contract manufacturing, and cross-functional teams on PCB integration, DFM, and production issues.
• Inspect prototypes in the lab, resolve design issues, and track testing performed at external laboratories.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience designing sheet metal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines.
• Experience designing cosmetic and non-cosmetic plastic parts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Santa Clara or Roseville, California, and travel to Asia and North America.

Nice to have

• Experience designing computer or network equipment for data centers.
• Experience with PTC Creo, Mechanica, thermal simulation, or airflow testing.
• Experience with liquid cooling systems and PTC Windchill.
