TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer (Flight Simulation) (Mechanical Engineering/CAD): Developing and supporting mechanical systems for flight training devices from requirements through final acceptance with an accent on parametric CAD modeling, technical evaluations, manufacturing support, and customer deliverables. Focus on resolving complex technical issues, coordinating installations and sell-offs, and applying Model Based Engineering, GD&T, and simulation methods.

Location: Arlington, Texas, United States; office and manufacturing facility. Must be a U.S. citizen due to U.S. Government contract requirements and must be eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance. Requires overtime, shift work, 24/7 on-call availability, and CONUS travel.

What you will do

  • Develop and apply mechanical engineering methods, CAD tools, theories, and techniques to flight simulator design and development.
  • Direct technical activities for small- to medium-scale programs and coordinate engineering work across multiple projects.
  • Support subjective and objective training-device evaluations, installations, final sell-offs, and customer acceptance.
  • Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support to suppliers and manufacturing.
  • Create parametric CAD models, drawings, technical analyses, and customer-facing technical documentation.
  • Review specifications and recommend design and manufacturing solutions for bids and proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of mechanical engineering or related industry experience.
  • Knowledge of fundamental Mechanical Engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and logical problem-solving ability.
  • U.S. citizenship required; must be eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance.
  • Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment, including overtime, shifts, 24/7 on-call duty, and CONUS travel.

Nice to have

  • Machine shop experience and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Hands-on manufacturing support experience.
  • Model Based Engineering and GD&T experience.
  • SolidWorks, Creo, or a similar parametric CAD tool experience.
  • Simulation experience.
