Mechanical Product Design Engineer I (Automotive)

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States; hybrid schedule with 4 days per week in-office and 1 day remote. Applicants must be able to work in or relocate to Portland. Relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $71,000–$91,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design and develop coolant systems, plumbing, tanks, vent lines, and third-party engine integration hardware.
• Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and GD&T using Siemens NX and related tools.
• Develop solutions for product development, plant build, custom work order, and customer field issues.
• Improve product quality, engineering tools, processes, cost, and design complexity.
• Support product design, validation, compliance, manufacturing, sales, and marketing teams.
• Work with multi-tier suppliers to ensure designs meet specifications, engineering practices, customer expectations, and government regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining quality.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of upstream and downstream engineering processes.
• Demonstrated follow-through and ability to work independently.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available, and existing visa holders are not eligible.

Nice to have

• Experience with DTNA systems such as PLATON and IMACS+.
• Experience using Siemens NX for solid modeling.
