Engineering Designer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan; on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Create, refine, and finalize Siemens NX math models and virtual layouts for complex automotive components and subsystems.
• Perform part-to-vehicle integration, clearance studies, NX analysis, and subsystem integration activities.
• Apply design standards, GD&T, manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration principles.
• Participate in and lead virtual design reviews with engineers, designers, and technical teams.
• Maintain material specifications, mass data, and other math-file attributes while ensuring on-time math release.
• Communicate project status, timing, and technical issues to design leadership and release engineering teams.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in CAD or engineering design for automotive or mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX and parametric modeling.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturability, and subsystem integration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, initiative, and ownership skills.
• Must be able to work on-site in Warren, Michigan, at least three days per week; GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrical, electrification, interiors, accessories, closures, underbody, propulsion, transmission, seating, chassis, HVAC, thermal, bumper, fascia, grille, trim, or body-structure systems.
• Experience supporting CAE or analysis workflows.
• Exposure to virtual integration or multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Experience at an automotive supplier or OEM.
