Designer (Electric Distribution)

Location: Lubbock, TX, United States; onsite role

Salary: $37–$48 per hour

What you will do

• Update GIS records to reflect current field conditions and verify maps and record drawings.
• Design and process construction work requests for overhead electric distribution systems using utility standards and prescribed procedures.
• Prepare computer-assisted designs, construction drawings, distribution circuit designs, pole boring documents, cost estimates, and project reports.
• Track design activities in the project management system and coordinate reviews with QA, design supervisors, designers, and client engineers.
• Attend project meetings, define scope, and prepare meeting notes for pre-construction, pre-engineering, and pre-design stages.
• Support storm restoration activities, including patrolling, extendo stick work, and production lead duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering or technology and 3–5 years of power distribution design or engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Design Manager, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Xcel Energy Distribution.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background and credit check.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, client interaction skills, flexibility, and a questioning attitude.
• Must work onsite in Lubbock, Texas.
