Director, Venue Learning (Hospitality)

Location: New York City, NY; regular presence across NYC venues required, with periodic travel to Sphere in Las Vegas and future locations

Salary: $175,000–$185,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Build and lead the Venue Academy as a multi-tier learning institution for frontline colleagues, supervisors, and operational staff.
• Design sequenced curricula, progression pathways, credentials, and immersive onboarding experiences.
• Create a digital-first content strategy for rapid updates, seasonal workforce ramp-up, and scalable delivery across multiple properties and time zones.
• Use AI-powered tools, learner analytics, and effectiveness metrics to improve knowledge retention, progression, credential completion, and time-to-proficiency.
• Partner with Venue Operations, Guest Experience, Threat Management, and HR Business Partners to align learning with operational needs.
• Lead visibly within venue operations and maintain strong relationships with frontline managers and operational leaders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; a relevant instructional design degree is applicable.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in learning, talent development, or organizational development, including at least 3 years in hospitality, retail, entertainment, sports, or high-touch guest service.
• Experience designing and scaling academies, universities, certification systems, or other structured learning programs for large frontline or hourly workforces.
• Experience onboarding frontline employees within compressed timelines and leading or building a small team.
• Expertise in curriculum sequencing, leveling, credentialing, learning technology platforms, facilitation, measurement frameworks, and learner analytics.
• Ability to influence without authority, advise senior operational leaders, and communicate strategy to executives.

Nice to have

• Experience with LMS/LXP platforms, mobile learning, digital badging, and AI-powered learning tools.
