Senior Technical Specialist (Claims)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States

Salary: $94,400–$155,800 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage complex large-exposure claims involving toxic tort, latent injury, sexual misconduct, environmental, and excess claims.
• Research policies and analyze coverage across legacy companies, jurisdictions, and applicable legal concepts.
• Investigate liability, evaluate damages, develop recommendations, and communicate coverage positions.
• Develop litigation and resolution strategies, including counsel selection, expert engagement, settlement terms, mediations, and trials.
• Manage assigned accounts, financial exposure estimates, budgets, claim reserves, documentation, and claim-system data.
• Provide mentoring, coaching, training, interviewing support, and project leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in environmental claims and coverage determination, severe complex liability claims and litigation, or comparable claim litigation or legal work.
• Alternatively, 3 years of bodily injury or property damage claim handling experience plus 1 year of Strategic Resolution Group experience.
• Knowledge of legal concepts, case law, regulatory and claim environments, analytical thinking, judgment, communication, planning, and relationship management.
• Insurance license(s) may be required and generally must be obtained within three months of starting, with ongoing education credits.
